The Pensacola area is abuzz with anticipation as the next generation of swimmers and divers emerges, ready to take on the challenges of the upcoming fall season. With the graduation of several top athletes, including Ian Malone, Taylor Clements, and Logan Robinson, the spotlight shines on 14 promising high school swimmers and divers who are poised to make their mark. These young athletes are set to compete in the state championship in Ocala, with the 3A competition scheduled for November 6, the 1A on November 13, and the 2A on November 14. Among the standout performers is Brandon Carney from Pace, who qualified for the 3A state championship as a junior, finishing 22nd in the 50 freestyle and showing consistent performance in district and regional championships. Aidan Hall, a sprinter from Booker T. Washington, is a three-time state qualifier, having finished in the top four in the 50 free and 100 butterfly at district and regional meets. Hayden Huntsinger, a diver from West Florida, is a three-time state qualifier with a strong showing in the 2A boys 1-meter diving event. Amelia Ilnitskly, a swimmer from Milton, excels in longer events, finishing in the top 12 in the 200 IM and 500 free at regional championships. Amelie Kortman, a diver from Gulf Breeze, made her mark as a freshman, anchoring the 200 medley relay and finishing in the top six in the 50 freestyle. Brynlee Kurtz, a senior from Navarre, is a consistent performer in the 100 breaststroke and 100 free. Donovan Lawrence, another diver from Pace, won district and regional titles in the 3A 1-meter diving event. Kiley Menser, a swimmer from Tate, returns for her senior season, anchoring the 400 freestyle relay and finishing in the top seven in multiple events. Isaiah Simpson, a diver from West Florida, finished in the top four in the boys 2A 1-meter diving event. Ben Stewart, a junior from Pensacola Catholic, anchored the school record 200 freestyle relay and finished in the top three in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM. Audrey Turner, a senior from Tate, finished in the top 20 in the 100 backstroke and helped the Aggies in multiple relays. Grace Walen, a swimmer from Gulf Breeze, swam the butterfly leg in the 200-yard medley relay and finished in the top 18 in the 500 freestyle and 200 IM. Justin Washburn, a swimmer from West Florida, qualified for the state meet as a freshman and won district titles in the 200 freestyle relay and 500 freestyle. Jordana Wright, a diver from Tate, won district titles in the 100 butterfly and finished in the top 14 in the 100 backstroke.
