Did you know that a staggering 92% of businesses utilizing Meta Platforms in India are actually Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)? That's right – the backbone of India's economy is heavily reliant on platforms like Facebook and Instagram! To help these vital businesses thrive, Meta has launched a new campaign designed to showcase how MSMEs are leveraging their platforms to connect with new and, crucially, the right customers.
This campaign, crafted by Talented & Footloose Films, champions a simple yet powerful idea: every small business deserves better. It emphasizes that reaching the most relevant customers can unlock significant growth.
Arun Srinivas, Managing Director and Country Head for Meta in India, highlights this: "Meta Platforms are a digital home for countless small businesses across India, with over 92% being MSMEs. We are committed to fostering the right growth opportunities for them. This campaign underscores the importance of connecting with the ideal customer base, a goal that can be achieved with Meta's advertising tools and the user-friendly Boost Post feature on Instagram and Facebook."
Across India, from tiny parlors to home kitchens, digital technologies and apps are empowering extraordinary businesses. To accelerate their growth, these businesses need access to the right audience, the ones most likely to become loyal customers.
Meta's suite of tools, including Reels, the AI-powered Advantage+ suite, Generative AI creative tools, and Messaging surfaces, have a proven track record of boosting even the smallest businesses. The Boost Post option on Facebook and Instagram is a particularly effective tool, giving small businesses a taste of the power of paid advertising.
This new campaign, in collaboration with Talented, reinforces this reality with a clear message: Your business deserves better. And with a simple tap using the Boost feature on Instagram and Facebook, you can reach those new customers.
The campaign features four short films that bring this to life, showcasing everyday entrepreneurs: a parlor owner, a mithai shopkeeper, a yoga instructor, and a ceramic artist. Their stories reflect the aspirations of a nation on the move.
The core message across each story is consistent: Boost a post to reach new customers. Your business deserves better.
Prashant Gopalakrishnan, Founding Partner at Talented, shares an insightful perspective: "Every Indian has a favorite hidden gem – a local mithai shop, a thrift store known only to locals, a home baker whose cakes evoke childhood memories. With Meta’s Boost feature on Instagram and Facebook, that's changing. Now, small business owners can put their craft in front of the people who are waiting to discover them. We may not be able to gatekeep our favorite local businesses anymore – and honestly, that’s a great thing for India.”
Indrashish Mukherjee, Director at Footloose Films, adds, “The insight for this ad came with an interesting creative approach: pairing a small business owner with the wrong target audience their ad might reach. We decided to amplify the absurdity of this premise. And by showcasing these very 'wrong' people, it seems we ended up making the 'right' ads.”
As part of the broader initiative to inspire and support small businesses, Meta is also collaborating with over 30 creators. Many of these creators are entrepreneurs themselves, building and scaling their businesses on Meta Platforms.
But here's where it gets controversial... Do you think these platforms are truly leveling the playing field for small businesses, or are they just another avenue for larger companies to dominate? What are the potential downsides of relying so heavily on these platforms? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
