The Noosa region in Queensland has been hit with minor flooding, with isolated storms, rain, and cooler temperatures forecast for the area. Storms and heavy rainfall are expected to impact large parts of Queensland today, with temperatures dropping across much of the sunshine state. Flood cameras have captured some minor flooding in the Noosa region after the area experienced heavy rainfall overnight and throughout the morning. At Bec Tardent's home in Parklands, things were extremely wet. Ms. Tardent said the storm cell appeared to have "dumped rain" over Noosa all night, and she had to move her outdoor furniture inside while using sandbags to keep the rain out of her home. Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) data showed Tewantin received 182 millimetres of rain overnight. Some rain lingered in the Noosa region late on Tuesday morning, particularly in coastal areas, with more possible throughout the day and into the afternoon. Slow-moving storms have been observed in the region, with other areas also receiving more than 100 millimetres of rain, including Mount Beerwah, where 166mm fell. The region has experienced slow-moving storms that sat in one place and "dumped rain basically in the same spot for several hours through last night and into the morning." However, the BOM does not expect a repeat of rainfall totals in the same "ballpark." While the southeast corner of Queensland will enjoy a "few days off" from the worst of the heat before temperatures ramp back up, the region is still expected to see temperatures above average as the week progresses. There is potential for severe thunderstorms in the southern and central interior and a low chance of one or two thunderstorms in the southeast. An earlier severe storm warning issued by the BOM about 7:30 am for the Sunshine Coast was lifted at 8:30 am. However, the BOM warned that the redevelopment of severe thunderstorms remained possible. A southerly change stalled inland of the Sunshine Coast, helping to create slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorm activity. Windy conditions are also expected across the southeast with strong wind warnings for the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast waters. Residents are advised to monitor the radar and thunderstorm warnings. But here's where it gets controversial... While the BOM has issued warnings and forecasts, the potential for severe weather events can vary greatly, and it's important to stay informed and prepared. And this is the part most people miss... Remember, it's always a good idea to have a plan in place for severe weather events, such as having an emergency kit ready and knowing your local evacuation routes. So, what do you think?
