The Open University of Kenya (OUK) has achieved a remarkable feat, graduating over 200 students in its second ceremony, who are now poised to shape the country's digital future. This diverse group of graduates has completed a range of specialized programs, including Business and Economics, Education, Entrepreneurship, Economics and Statistics, Technology Education, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Digital Forensics. These fields are pivotal in Kenya's growing knowledge economy, fostering innovation and technological advancement.
The ceremony was a testament to the university's commitment to digital learning and inclusivity. Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba emphasized the government's dedication to enhancing OUK's status as a leading center for digital education, ensuring that learners from all corners of the country have access to high-quality learning opportunities. Chancellor Dr. James Mwangi further underscored the university's online learning model, which empowers Kenyans to upskill themselves while managing work, family, and geographical constraints.
The graduating class was celebrated as a catalyst for technology-driven progress, research, and innovation. Guest speaker Lucy Mulili, in her inspiring address, highlighted the potential of these graduates to drive Kenya's technological advancements.
